All the little tragedies that piled up in the building
All the little things that I still don't quite understand
All the little whilte lies we told our teachers and our parents
Assistant principals and guidance counselors

They turned off all the lights and they locked the doors behind us
I find myself obsessed with places to which I can't return
I'm feeling helpless, confused and angry
I guess that's what they mean when they say like a kid again

I spent one too many recesses
Staring through the links in the chain-link fence
Kids can be cruel - it's a shallow observation
But I understand it's all too true

One day the tiles'll start to drop from the drop ceiling
and the walls will creak and crack and start to collapse
the deadly fibers that insulate the building
will leak out into the air and it will be shuttered for good

And the wreckage will be disposed of most carefuly
All the balls we lost on the roof will be removed then, you see
We won't get them back
