This is not a true story, more of a dark fantasy. I sort of dreamed of deeply dramatic things happening in the cookie-cutter Calgary suburbs I grew up around, making the sort or banal locations in my memory into these iconic images laced with meaning.
lyrics
You were trapped out in the middle
Of that artificial lake
You believed the ice was thick enough
But it could not hold your weight
They sent in the helicopters
They managed to resuscitate you
But you haven't been the same person since
The doctors said that you were dead for close to half a minute
The freezing water still holds some piece of you
Trapped out in the suburbs
Amidst all the banality
Far from home, now
Far from the life that you now lead
Alone in the winter
With empty recreational facilities
Warm and wanted in the summer months
